Troy Baker is one of the most impressive and successful voice actors in the business. His talents have taken him from award-winning games like The Last of Us to long recurring roles in anime such as Baki. In between, he has appeared in movies and television shows, solidifying him as a multifaceted performer like no other.
Now, he’s trying his hand in the role of Performance Director at LightSpeed Studios, which has just opened a new capture facility to work on Last Sentinel, a game revealed at The Game Awards in 2023. Baker dabbled with a role like this with Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, and thanks to years of motion capture performances, he’s by no means a stranger to this kind of job.
Cutting-Edge Facilities
In a recent press release, LightSpeed Studios revealed the grand opening of a bespoke facility constructed in Los Angeles to support performance capture and ‘virtual production’. Last Sentinel, an open-world dystopian title with an impressive opening impression will be the first project put to the test in this new studio.
Here’s the first trailer for Last Sentinel:
In a statement, Troy Baker himself had nothing but good things to say about the new role:
Working with LightSpeed Studios and the outstanding team at this facility is nothing short of thrilling. The amount of skill, talent, thoughtfulness, experience and care that went into the making of this studio is remarkable.
The flow of the space, every minute detail is designed not only to support actors in crafting memorable performances but also fully equips every member of this creative team to get it done and get it done right. And that’s what LightSpeed Studios did from the jump; they got it right.
Troy Baker is appearing later this year in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, playing the lead role of Indy himself. He’s also set to have a major role in Death Stranding 2 and Judas, the BioShock-like shooter.
I don’t know how he has the time to do all this, but more power to him.
