Horror fans, listen up. Danny and Michael Philippou – the masterminds behind the breakout 2022 hit Talk to Me – are returning with a new scary movie, and the Longlegs-level teaser trailer just dropped.

Longlegs was nothing short of a horror phenomenon, not least thanks to Neon’s viral marketing campaign. It was a masterclass in tension building, relying purely on atmosphere and dread rather than revealing any plot details.

It was all very unsettling, something the Philippou brothers already proved they could nail with Talk to Me. The A24 movie was based on a unique premise, centering around an embalmed hand, demonic possession, and a lot of trauma.

Given it was the former YouTubers’ directorial debut, anticipation is building for their second film, Bring Her Back. And now, the terrifying first teaser trailer is here.

A24 drops terrifying first teaser trailer for Bring Her Back

Much like Longlegs, the trailer shuns the practice of giving away the entire plot, instead giving us a series of shots that are as eerie as they are baffling.

The opening shows a cat (drinking out of an A24, FYI) startled by a series of loud bangs from inside the house. We then see the screen of a camera filming a scared girl, a woman looking over a coffin, and a person’s hair being chopped off – and that’s before the gore kicks in.

One of the grisliest shots shows a bloodied child whose insides are quivering, followed by Sally Hawkins’ character slamming her blood-covered hand to a glass pain and screaming. Oh, and there’s also a chilling groaning heard in the background, which sounds not too dissimilar to Nicolas Cage’s Longlegs.

Although plot details are being kept under wraps, JoBlo was provided the following synopsis: “A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.”

Alongside Hawkins, the cast includes Billy Barratt, Jonah Wren Phillips, Sally-Anne Upton, Stephen Phillips, Sora Wong, and Liam Damons.

It’s safe to say the trailer has drummed up plenty of excitement, with one writing, “Chills. A24 never misses. The eerie atmosphere, the haunting score, and that one line – ‘Bring her back’ – sent shivers down my spine. This is going to be a masterpiece.”

“Had me at directors of Talk To Me,” said another, while a third added, “And the Oscars goes to Sally Hawkins. I can’t wait to watch this.” A fourth chimed in, “Atmospheric horror is the best horror and let’s hope this fits that bill like Hereditary.”

Although there’s no specific release date, Bring Her Back is set to drop sometime in Summer 2025. Until then, check out the most anticipated horror movies of the year, as well as the best horror films of all time.
