Confirming a rumor from two years ago, Sony has finally announced Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, an anime based on the franchise. The announcement was made during the company’s presentation at CES 2025.

In case you don’t remember, a well-known anime leaker claimed in 2023 that a Ghost of Tsushima anime was in the works. At the time, the leaker had also claimed that an anime of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was in the works.
The news was announced by the CEO of Crunchyroll, Rahul Purini, and the CEO of Aniplex, Atsuhiro Iwakami. As the name suggests, the adaptation seems to be inspired by the Legends multiplayer mode. Further details about the production, such as the synopsis, have not been released.
Sony is betting big on Ghost of Tsushima. In addition to the anime, the franchise will also feature a live-action film and the “sequel” Ghost of Yotei. The brand is not new to this franchising strategy, having released a live-action series of The Last of Us, Twisted Metal and an Uncharted movie.
Sony’s plan is to attract new consumers who are not in the console ecosystem, increasing the revenue generated by its main IPs.
