In a new post on X today, Nintendo announced that an Indie World Showcase and a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase are coming this week on August 27, 2024.
Nintendo will host a livestream of both presentations back-to-back, starting at 16:00 CEST / 10 am EST / 7 am PST. Today’s post also mentions that the combined runtime of these presentations will add up to about “40 minutes in total.”
It also links to the YouTube channel, where a description again warns fans that “there is no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during either of these presentations.” Nintendo reiterated this in a follow-up tweet too, as buzz around the Switch successor continues to build.
Nintendo held an Indie World Showcase in April 2024, which did last 22 minutes. It featured a variety of games, with some of the highlights including SteamWorld Heist II and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Splintered Fate.
The latter was a welcome surprise for many fans, since it was originally an Apple Arcade title. The anticipated roguelike eventually launched on the Nintendo Switch in July 2024.
Most recently, Nintendo also held a 40-minute Direct showcase in mid-June 2024. That kicked off with Mario & Luigi Brothership, announced for November 2024. It also featured Nintendo World Championships, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Funko Fusion and more.
