Microsoft has announced a new standard tier of their Xbox Game Pass subscription as they increase the price of the Ultimate on September 12. Subscribers to Game Pass Ultimate will be paying three dollars extra as the service is going from $16.99 USD to $19.99 USD a month. PC game pass subscribers will also receive a price increase of $2 as the monthly rate goes from $9.99 USD to $11.99 USD.\
The new tier will exclude day-one access to first-party Xbox games before the tech company adds anticipated titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 to Game Pass Ultimate later this year. Game Pass Standard will include online console multiplayer access, something its predecessor Game Pass for Console didn’t include. The tier will cost $14.99 USD a month and be available to players in the coming months.
The new round of increases comes after the price for the Ultimate tier was raised just over a year ago. This additional price hike has been expected for some time as Microsoft plans to up the service’s competitive advantage by adding the popular Call of Duty series.
The price increase will take effect on September 12 and the launch date for the Xbox Game Pass Standard tier is yet to be announced. You can check back here for updates.
