FX Head Provides Update on 'Shōgun' Season 2

FX Chairman John Langdraf offered a small update on the second season of Shōgun after it became the most-nominated show at the 76th Emmy Awards.

Speaking to Variety, the exec revealed that creators Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo “are happily at work” with the rest of the writers. “We’re hoping to be in production relatively early next year. But it’s a long production period,” Langdraf admitted. “I think between principal and second unit days of photography, that show shot between 180 and 190 days or more, could have been close to 200.”

With filming looking to take place over a span of about six months, there is a chance that Season 2 will arrive much later than fans anticipated. Plot details are yet to be announced.

The series received a total of 25 Emmy nominations this year, including Best Drama Series, Best Directing for a Drama Series and more.
